Amit Chaudhuri is probably the only Indian writer to be as renowned for his literary works as his musical career.

Amit Chaudhuri is global recognised English Indian author. Currently he is working at University of East Anglia at post of Professor of Contemporary Literature. In 2012, he won the Infosys Prize for Humanities-Literary Studies for his imaginative and illuminating writings in literary criticism, which reflect a complex literary sensibility, and great theoretical mastery, along with a probing sense of detail. Amit Chaudhuri grew up in Mumbai. He was educated at the Cathedral and John Connon School, Bombay and later went United Kingdom for higher education and got admission University College London, Balliol College.

Amit Chaudhuri achieved critical acclaim with his first book, A Strange and Sublime Address (1991). He is the author of five novels, the latest of which is The Immortals, which were a New Yorker, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe and Irish Times Best Book of the Year. He is also the writer of a book of short stories, Real Time, a book of critical essays, Clearing a Space, a book of poems, a critical study of DH Lawrence’s poetry, D H Lawrence and ‘Difference’ (‘a pathbreaking work’, Terry Eagleton, London Review of Books), and is the editor of the Picador Book of Modern Indian Literature.
